Discover strength in loss: own your journey, find your words, and write your future

About Lost Words

Lost Words was established for people like you, who have experienced loss. Taking inspiration from a decade in healthcare, mentoring and coaching a diverse range of people, and personal experiences, Lost Words is a support network, a safe space, and a step towards rediscovering yourself after loss.

Finding the words to tell people about your experience, wondering if you’re feeling the right feelings, debating whether to tell people about that part of your life: these are all valid and real considerations when experiencing loss of fertility, pregnancy, or parenthood. Lost Words will use language and communication to support you to create your own narrative, gain clarity on your needs and desires, and make real steps towards your future.

No matter who you are or how you got there, loss affects us all in different ways, and more often than not, there are external forces which tell us why it happened, how we should feel, and what we should do next. I’m here to tell you that this is your story. Nobody else experienced this the same way you did. Coaching sessions with Lost Words are a space in which to feel anything you want; use whatever words you need to make your experience, and your future, truly yours.

About Kat

My name is Kat, and I hope I’m the Coach you’re looking for.

I worked for ten years as a nurse, specialising in women’s health and early pregnancy. I completed an MSc Nursing in which I investigated the language facilities available for non-English speaking women experiencing miscarriage in the UK, and found myself working in research, wards, a specialist early pregnancy unit, and education. With the support of a work-place coach, however, I realised something was missing and I wasn’t living life in line with my values and dreams. I knew I loved my speciality, and I knew I cared deeply for the people I supported, but I needed something else. I needed to become a coach.

I had seen the benefits myself, and so embarked on my coaching training with The Coaching Academy. I knew language could make a real difference to our experiences of life and loss, and through combining my nursing, coaching, and language teaching skills, Lost Words was established.

As your Coach I know that the journey you’re about to embark on may be daunting, but I promise I will harness strengths I’ve gained through personal and professional experience, to ensure you have a safe space to feel, express your needs, and live the future you want.

I am passionate about people, and I believe we can all reach our highest potential with the right support. As your Coach I am truly invested in your wellbeing and progress. I will support you to find the words to own your losses, discover your strengths, rediscover identity, and rebuild relationships where communication has broken down.
